ryan_smith10
Hey, if anyone can help me on this, it would be great. I have a D80 and 2 SB600s, and I'm trying to set them up so I have one SB600 on the camera, while holding the second one wirelessly. I have been able to set the camera so that the pop-up flash from the camera can trigger the wireless SB600, but as soon as I attatch the first SB600 to the D80, I am only able to trigger the one that is directly attatched, while the wireless one won't respond. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Ryan
Matt Laur
Alas, the SB600 cannot be used as a controller, only as a stand-alone hotshoe unit, or as a slave. You could consider getting a flash bracket so that one of the slave units is NEAR your camera body, while still using the pop-up flash as a controller. Or, replace one of the SB600s with an SB800, which WILL do what you're thinking of.
frank_skomial
" but as soon as I attatch the first SB600 to the D80" - as soon as you place anything in the camera hot shoe, the built-in flash will get disabled, and therefore cannot command anything. SB-600 is not a commander, as Matt explained. Use both SB-600 as remote flashes, and command them from the D80 built-in flash poped up and set as a commander.
