Many may have these pro expensive lenses at home but when they travel they use cheaper lower quality lenses because its more travel friendly.

However there are some that take their kitchen sink with them ..

Depends one each really.

Each can only really test what they like in a real situation so go and try it out ..

Just for fun take one or two primes, too, like the lightweight EF 24mm f/2.8 and EF 50mm f/1.8 (but you can also check out the fast f/1.4 versions of these lenses). While on paper the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM makes a great carry-around lens, it is a big and heavy sucker and pretty front-heavy (especially when used at the wide end or focused close). It may not be the most comfortable thing to schlepp around all day. My EF 200mm f/2.8 L USM prime is noticeably lighter, better balanced and only 1.5 centimeter longer with almost three times its reach, which makes it a very useful lens for candid street portraiture.
