aleth_phos
Just got a Rebel XTi. I have Photoshop 7.0 and hesitate to spend close to $1,000 for CS3. Is there a way to read/edit XTi RAW on PS7?
colinsouthern
No. Not that I'm aware of, however, if you convert them to DNG using Adobe's free DNG converter, you could then open them in Photoshop CS (which would cost you less). Having said all that, CS3 has some VERY powerful tools for RAW conversion/processing. Only other alternative would be to use another converter (eg DPP). Cheers, Colin
chrisjb
I use `breezebrowser` to convert RAWS which interacts with PS7, a lot less $ and takes `as shot` info into account HTH
ron_leachman1
Check out the Adobe update software page. CS# is only $199 upgrade from PS7
spidersart
The "Digital Photo Professional" software that came with your XTi can convert your RAW images to either 8 bit or 16 bit Tiffs
JDMvW
Convert with DPP then manipulate in PS 7 I have an older G4 Mac that won't work with CS3, so I use 7 and CS there. However, I do run CS3 on my newer machines, and I am of the opinion that it is a much more significant upgrade than the earlier ones from 7. If you are a student or teacher, check out whether your institution has a deal with Adobe. I got the whole CS3 extended bundle for the same price as a CS3 Photoshop upgrade. aleth_phos
Thanks for all your answers. I tried converting with DPP and the 9 mb raw exploded into a 50 mb monster. Guess I will just take jpeg's until I'm ready for the CS3 upgrade.
david_r._levitt
Adobe Photoshop Elements handles RAW files. It may provide all the editing functions you need.
