lkenney
I am looking for a reasonably priced monitor in the 20 -21" that can be accurately color calibrated. I purchased a Hewlett-Packard LP2065 20" LCD MONITOR from B & H photo. It was defective and could not be calibrated. I know that it is calibratible as I know an outstanding wedding photographer who successfully calibrates and uses one. I also have a Dell 21 monitor that doesn't calibrate well. I have used both the Spyder and Eyeone systems to avail. I am considering an Apple Cinema Display 20" monitor but use windows based CS3 and Apple provides no support for the monitor when used with a windows system. My questions: Is it worth the risk of using the Apple monitor? Does anyone have a recommendation for another monitor in my price range that is currently available and which they have successfully calibrated. Thank you in advance for your support. You can purchase an extended warranty through AppleCare. I have the 20" Apple Cinema Display and it is a fantastic monitor. http://www.apple.com/support/products/applecaredisplay.html

patricklavoie
Oh, i should had; im equip with Apple computer up my wazoo, but if your on a budget i will strongly suggest a Samsung 225BW or 226BW or anything newer or bigger in the same league as those 2 monitor. I have one 225bw that act as my second monitor in my office and as my primary plug to my laptop during a shoot cost around 350$CAN last year. calibrated well. bill_young5
I use an Apple 23" Cinema Display on my Windows PC and it works fine. Apple claims this monitor is fully supported on Windows as long as you're using an adequate video card. I'm a little confused by the notion of an "uncalibratable" monitor. When you calibrate, you're really calibrating the combination of the monitor with a graphics card. The calibration results are stored in the video LUT on the card itself. So, if the calibration is failing for some reason, I'd be suspicious of the card itself.
