dxphoto
Can one use a zeiss lens (contax/yashica mount) on Nikon digital cameras? Arethose new zeiss lense for Nikon F designed in Germany? I know they are made inJapan but I hear Zeiss did the design and let them made in Japan. True? Thanks.
robert_hooper1
They are made in Japan by Cosina for Zeiss.
dxphoto
who designed them? Or they are using the old design by Zeiss.
photo5
I think if you put the word 'Planar' or 'Sonnar' on a lens, it means it's the Planar or Sonnar optical design. I have no doubt that these lenses perform as well as any other Zeiss out there, and they have T* coatings. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are too expensive for me! At least I can buy a near mint second-hand Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AIS lens for less than $200. Try that with a Zeiss!
robert_hooper1
I think most of your questions will be answered here.
blumesan
Unfortunately you cannot use a Zeiss lens with a Contax/Yashica mount on any Nikon camera. You can obtain an adapter that allows these lenses to mount on some Canon digitals.
walterh
"Are those new zeiss lense for Nikon F..." You may think about the new series of F_mount lenses? I am not certain if anybody here knows much more about it than the producer does - so why not look there? http://www.zeiss.com/C12567A8003B58B9?Open All new design by Zeiss and out-resolving current digital sensors. frank_skomial
Since this is Nikon forum, look up the compatibility link http://www.zeiss.com/C12567A8003B58B9/Contents-Frame/8E8AE439A3FD6101C125711B005A77C4 to see how that will, or will not work with your camera. That is how you will use your camera after you mount a Zeiss lens on your camera. As always, searching for independent opinions, rather than depending on a manufacturer's advertising, is highly recommended. Zeiss lenses actual usage and comparisons to others were discussed few times on photo.net, and elsewhere.
jorge_torralba2
I don't think you can use the old contax lenses on the F cameras. The distance from the lens mount to the film plane is critical and it will not work. The new ZF lenses are awesome and I would like to have a handful of them. Check out the depth of field on these photos with the 100ZF. http://www.nikoncamerauser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=
