zeiss lenses for Nikon

I think if you put the word 'Planar' or 'Sonnar' on a lens, it means it's the Planar or Sonnar optical design. I have no doubt that these lenses perform as well as any other Zeiss out there, and they have T* coatings. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are too expensive for me! At least I can buy a near mint second-hand Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AIS lens for less than $200. Try that with a Zeiss!

Since this is Nikon forum, look up the compatibility link

to see how that will, or will not work with your camera. That is how you will use your camera after you mount a Zeiss lens on your camera.

As always, searching for independent opinions, rather than depending on a manufacturer's advertising, is highly recommended.

Zeiss lenses actual usage and comparisons to others were discussed few times on photo.net, and elsewhere.

I don't think you can use the old contax lenses on the F cameras. The distance from the lens mount to the film plane is critical and it will not work. The new ZF lenses are awesome and I would like to have a handful of them. Check out the depth of field on these photos with the 100ZF.
