Question about Acra Swiss type clamps

I have several Manfrotto tripods and heads using their quick release system. I

was thinking about moving up to a RRS or Kirk camera mount, but I really dont

have the cash to replace all the quick release clamps on my various tripods. So

Im wondering if the RSS or Kirk will fit on these Manfrottos. All of mine have

the #3257 style system which has a similar dovetail to the Acra Swiss style.

Thanks,

Kevin

Couldn't find the style you referenced so making assumptions here - I have the 322RC2 (pistol grip) head. The QR plate for it, 200PL, looks like it should fit an Arca Swiss but it's much fatter.

That's based on my new purchase of an Acratech Ultimate ballhead which is Arca Swiss compatible, and I had to buy new QR plates (from Kirk).

I move my Arca-Swiss (sic) B1 from one tripod to another. Likewise various video heads and other ball heads. I have equipped a couple of Gitzo center-ball heads with Arca-type clamps made by Really Right Stuff. In any case, you need a separate plate for each camera (it's pointless to attach/detach the plate and still call it a "quick" release system).

Not all Arca-Swiss style plates are interchangeable, although Kirk, Arca and RRS come close (if you use a screw-type clamp). None of the Bogen or Gitzo plates come even close.
