Photo upload matt/frames

I'm new and as yet have not uploaded any images. How do you frame or matt the

images you upload? I use Photoshop CS3.

Photoshop > Edit > Stroke - choose width, colour, placement either inside, outside of image area, Save. Upload.

 

Lots of other methods too, but this is a quick way of adding plain borders.

 

There was a recent thread on this so do as search as there were many other methods mentioned.

Photoshop > Image > Canvas Size if you want the top/bottom border the be wider/thiner the the left/right border.

Thanks guys. John, I tried your method as it seemed appropriate for what I was wanting to do but could not activate the "stroke" mode without first expanding the canvas size with the cropping tool and then magic wanding the expanded area which unfortunatly picked up all the white in the pic aside from the expanded border. Apparently I am not as smart as you guys are giving me credit for. Could you try to explain this method as in "surround 101 for dummies". Thanks, Bill

Fredrick, I just tried your method and it gave me what I wanted after all. Thank both of you very much for your response. Hopefully both of you will be able to further help with your critique of my work. Bill
