frank_menesdorfer
Does any one know anybody who can fix this Turner-Reich separation for me? I mean I'm a tuff guy but not that tuff to get into this lens business. I know how to do it in the theory of earlier discussion here but I really don't think I should jump on it. To could do that and avoiding errors I got to learn this with other lenses first but lock of time not aloud me to do that. I rather pay for it. It's a lightweight triplet with the 28? front which I want to use on my 8x10. By the way I have seen that some of you wanted to know more about me on that personal page and I never bother to do anything there not even loaded up a single image here. Sorry if I made you disappointed. Now I did something there so you can read it and I can see that you can even click on my photo and receive some info of the background of it. So, back to the lens, help me out folks it's got to be someone who makes out of living repairing lenses, a pro.

chuck_pere
Don't forget to check the cost of repair vs just buying another better TR 8x10 lens. They seem pretty common.
jason_greenberg_motamedi
Frank, Getting the TR repaired will be very expensive. To fix balsam failure all the elements in the group will have to be removed and then recemented. The TR has five elements in each of its two groups, so that means for the whole lens (both front and rear) you are looking at eight cemented surfaces. A few years ago that cost ~$700 with Focal Point. Probably not worth the cost for a TR. Arax in the Ukraine also does this work and is cheaper, but even so you will be looking at close to $350. frank_menesdorfer
Jason, I got the Ukrainians as a tip before from my photographic brothers on the island (UK) but they never answered my repeated mail. Some said that they have even taken away info from their site of repairing lenses. I don't know because I havent seen they earlier page. I will try it again.
