anthony_chapa
I have the 40D and I am curious on how to get a picture where the camera can take a picture ever minute or every other second..etc. Do I need to buy a timer release? I am assuming I have to, hence the "timer". After I get the picture, I am wanting to combine all of them into one; merge/overlay, what is it? The camera would be on a tripod and I would have my subject in different places after each shutter goes off. Sorta like a timelapse. bongeiste
It looks like you might want the TC-80N3 remote. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SNAModelSuppliesTabAct&fcategoryid=816&modelid=15653 You might also want to keep an eye on the thread two posts below your post. hakon_soreide
I assume you won't be doing this near a computer? If so, the program for tethered shooting that came with my Rebel XT allows timelapse shooting, and I assume it's still bundled with the newer cameras.
In the field, there is the Canon TC-80N3 Timer Remote Controller - and there is also more information on timelapse shooting here (first place I found when I googled it =)
zigzag
You can use the timers mentioned for more than a few seconds and use the camera's frames per second for subsecond. After getting the photos you can overlay them all in something like Photoshop Elements or CS3 and just erase the bits of a layer you don't want. lunarlight
I have used my TC-80N3 a lot with my 20D for everything from giving myself time to get to my car so as to drive it through the frame with the shutter open http://www.photo.net/photo/1955304 to making movie sequences of repeated time-lapse images. http://members.trainorders.com/cimascrambler/night_passage/night_passage_gif.htm It wasn't a cheap tool but it works very well. If you do time-lapse work it will be a great assist.
