elizabeth_taylor1
I have a Canon 5D and recently purchased a macro ring lite MR-24EX but it doesn't fit my Sigma 180mm 1:35 APO macro DG HSM. Is there an adaptor ring I could purchase? I am new to photography so any help would be appreciated. Elizabeth
jo7hs2
The Canon 72C Macrolite Adapter should work. If the filter size matches, it supposedly works with any lens. Your lens is a 72mm filter size, and so is the adapter. derek_hammond1
If memory serves me right you will find a Cokin K series fiter adaptor ring will do the trick - it just screws onto the filter thread and then the mr24 will clip on to it
lester_wareham
As notes for non-Canon macro lenses you need one of the three microlight adaptors.
It is also worth noting that neither macro flash will mount even a Canon macro lens if a filter is fitted, using an adaptor is an easy way around this.
Also for info to others, the threads on the MT-24EX are not intended for mounting filters (although I believe you can) it is in fact intended to mount a small macrophoto lens hood when using the MP-E 65mm to shade the front element from the flash head. As per the below shot:

ulrich_ploedereder
Hello Lester, is this macro lens hood a Canon product? Who builds this kind of stuff? Thank you in advance! Uli
robin_sibson1
You can mount a filter as well as a macro flash directly on the Canon macro lenses that take 52mm filters (50/2.5 and 60/2.8). As Lester says, to do this on the 100/2.8USM or MP-E 65 requires a Macrolite Adapter 58.
alan_myers
I use a Stroboframe/Lepp macro flash bracket with my MT24-EX. The two arms hold the flashes and give a lot more positioning flexibility, totally eliminate any issues using the Twinlite with 100 and 180 macros, or any other lens I choose, or any combination of lens hoods and filters. mark_chappell
As Joshua says, you need to purchase the appropriate macrolite adapter. In screws into the lens' filter threads. I use one with a Tamron 180 macro.
elizabeth_taylor1
Thank you all for your help. I have ordered the 72C Macrolite adapter so hopefully this will work. I would like to purchase the Stroboframe/Lepp macro flash bracket as used by Alan but nothing comes up in searching our New Zealand site. Is this only available overseas? thanks, Elizabeth
