I always thought that 50% crop is like a zoom-out while 200% crop is like a zoom-in. I guess I need to drink more beer.

A 50% crop is only a zoom out if you're starting from 100%.

 

Take 5 minutes to play with the magnifying class tool in photoshop and you'll get it soon.

Frankie, If Yakim had posted one more picture: the full image, not downsampled, maybe it will all become clear. You should then see that the 50% posting is indeed 50% smaller, and so on.

 

You really should have responded in the original thread. Responding via a new thread like this tends to put people off.

I learned about crops in 3rd grade, and have forgotton more about photo image crops just since last night than I think Frankie will learn in his/her lifetime! ;) I don't doubt that at all.
