vivek iyer
Random snaps? This image: http://www.photo.net/photo/6582827 appears to be of something historic. The image is accompanied by no details at all. It does not serve any purpose, it seems.

ericmehl
It's good to see some more pictures from Bolivia, I just went there this summer. It looks like you got around to a wider variety of places though. It is certainly a beautiful country. I think Vivek means that because the pictures don't have captions, it's hard to understand them in a context, and I would agree. Other than that, I think you have a good variety. Ones I liked: The shots from the highway, especially http://www.photo.net/photo/6582785 and http://www.photo.net/photo/6582865 (?maybe not from the road?) They have a good atmosphere, although some are a bit underexposed to me. http://www.photo.net/photo/6582836 has a nice atmosphere too. I like the overall blue and white tones, I think it adds to the mystery and drama of the mummy. http://www.photo.net/photo/6582842 I like how you have the wide angle to show the expanse of the plaza, but have a person to give it scale. I might crop it a bit personally, maybe take a bit off the bottom and top, where the ground and sky aren't adding all that much. http://www.photo.net/photo/6582867 and the other one like it seem to have a lot of potential, but I don't feel it is being realized here. Not sure what to do, though. (I know, not much help) Those are some of my thoughts.
ericmehl
OK, that was my first post, and it didn't format so great. Here's another try, but I fear the links won't work. mstudio
Vivek, Erik cleared up what I didn't undersatand, sorry for no descriptons or info. First time asking for opinions, besides I don't have enough time. In general it's my documentary of 9 days in Bolivia. Thanks Erik for your input. The mumy shot was done with limited time to adjust my camera, I had to be quick because cameras were not allowed. I saw your Bolivia shots, it's nice to see different perspectives. ffrancis_van_boxtel
Allow me to be a bit rude, please. Nice pics, not good documentary images though. A number of portraits and scenery/landscape photographs does not make more than a nice memory and aesthetic marvel. Real documentary photofraphy requires a much more reveiling way of depicting people in there environment and giving more insight into the countries specific nature. Not bad pics, not unpleasant to look at but just not living up to the requirements of documentary. Don't feel offended, only meant as advice from someone that does this more often and has been facing the same problems in the past. Think context and keep on removing pics from the series untill you have nothing double or unclear. Regards,
mstudio
Francis van Boxtel, Not rude in the least bit nor am I offended, point well taken. Docomentary is the wrong word, would personal documentation be any different? If it's the same, ill just refer to them as my shots of Bolivia. Thanks for the insight, if we think we have nothing more to learn than there's a problem.
ffrancis_van_boxtel
Hi Marcos, Bolivia is a long way from the Netherlands, I wonder whether I'll ever end up there. Your pictures do lure me in that direction. They show the shapes, the light and allmost the smell of the country. If I ever get there, there is a big chance I return home with fantastic doc. pics and have forgotten about the holiday pics. Hey, wasn't your girlfriend with you? No pics of her;-)
