j_r_bernstein
Hi everyone, I've got a Minox 35GT with a "slow" aperture. That is, when I open up the aperture, it moves very slowly (when it moves at all) and often stops well short of wide-open. I'm pretty sure that I can see some oil on the aperture leaves, but I have no idea how to get at them. I've taken off the focusing ring, hoping that the front element would be removable from there...but it wasn't (that I could see). Do I have to get at it from the back? How *does* it open? Anyone have a service manual? I don't want to take it to be serviced, as that will cost me the price of an other second-hand 35GT, and I don't mind doing it myself. Thanks very much for your help!Jordan
john_wire
Lighter Fluid (Ronsonal) may help in removing contamination, as a last resort. Regards.
j_r_bernstein
Thanks...but HOW do I get the lighter-fluid on the aperture?!? My problem isn't what to use to clean it, it's how to get at it. Thanks.
john_wire
Assuming there is no mechanical failure in the aperture adjustment mechanism, some fluid placed around the external adjusting ring while moving it back and forth might "do the trick". barry_ps
@j r bernstein did you find a way to get inside the lens ? I have an almost mint Minox 35 GT-E but the Aperture ring doesn't make the blades go open and closed. I hope I can fix this myself any info on getting intonthe lens would be great. Happy shooting and a fine weekend
