jice
I purchased a used Slik Sprint Pro GM. Like the tripod. Would like to replace the SBH-120 ball head that comes with it. I've searched online and see that others have done the same thing. It may sound silly, but I can't figure out how to remove the ball head. I assumed that I could screw it off, but it doesn't seem to budge. Do I have to dismantle it from the inside of the extension column? I see a hex nut that I might be able to remove. What am I missing?
nickwhite
Many tripods have small locking screws under the plate on top of the column (there could be one, two, three, or even four screws) - just slacken those off and the head will then turn counter clockwise to remove. I don't know the Slik model in question but this is fairly standard.
dave_smaldone
I had the same problem, but the head should come off. You need to twist the whole head HARD, and make sure you're turning the whole head.
jice
Thanks. That helped. I found a hex key of the correct size (3/16") and that did the trick.
stephen_lebovits
Hello, I am having a similar problem. I have a Slik Pro Gm tripod which I like, that seems to be permanentaly attached to it Slik SBH-100 ball head. I can't get the ballhead off, does anyone have any other suggestions, or do I have to dismantle the ballhead using the supplied schematic? Thanks!
