carbon_dragon
I've looked at the Kodak site. They have a data sheet that says they don't intend to discontinue HIE 35mm. They don't list it on their site as a product, but they do seem to list Kodak HSI as a professional film. Does this constitute just a rename? If so, why is it conspicuous by it's absence on BHPhoto? What's the Buzz? Does anyone know definitively? Is it out of the supply chain while it's relabeled HSI?
sattler123
Huh? Here is the B&H page with the HIE film - it's out of stock at B&H, but that does not mean that Kodak stopped producing it. I just received two rolls last week from B&H. I bet that when they re-open on Oct.6 you will see that film being back in stock. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/27754-USA/Kodak_8101529_HIE_135_36_Hi_Speed_Infrared.html
carbon_dragon
Yes I saw the page, saw it was out of stock, checked at the Kodak web site and was a little confused by what I saw. Like I said, my best guess is that Kodak is changing the name of the product but not discontinuing the product. I'm just looking to see if someone has some confirmation. Renato Tonelli
I have been told, by a photographer who uses HIE almost exclusively (and lots of it), that Kodak manufactures HIE only once a year. This may explain why it sometimes becomes unavailable. I have never confirmed this myself, however.
carbon_dragon
I guess we can't blame them for manufacturing it as efficiently as possible in the digital age.
