hanna_cowpe
Has anyone used a Kenko 2x teleconverter with the Canon 24-105L lens on a 350D? I have read conflicting information and am not sure if it's not recommended or just doesn't give optimal performance. I don't mind using manual focus if that's all that's required. leopoldstotch
For all practical purposes, it won't work, even though it will physically mount. Yes, you do in fact lose autofocus, and although you say you don't mind, have you tried manual focus at f8? Its rather difficult. Optical quality will also be severly degraded. Besides, TC's are best on telephoto primes and better telephoto zooms, not WA-telephoto zooms. Basically, you're better off cropping or getting a 200mm lens. bobatkins
It should work, but the results are unlikely to be very pleasing. If you really need more focal length and refuse to buy another lens, you'll be happier with a 1.4x (e.g. the Tamron). Image quality will be higher and you should still have well functioning AF. You might want to take a look at this: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/tutorials/tc3.html There are some examples there showing images taken with TCs and a few different Canon lenses. hanna_cowpe
I do have the 70-200L, which is the main lens I intended to use it with from home, but I was looking for something to reduce my load when travelling abroad and using the 24-105L. I guess I'll have to continue to hump the backpack.
