Mounting Super Baldina on Arca-type Quick Release plate

Hello guys,

I would like to mount an Arca-Swiss?type quick release plate (or an L-plate) on

my old ?Folder? -Balda Super Baldina 35mm BELLOWS camera.

Trouble is the tripod socket is of unusual size. It is not the usual 1/2? we

find on most cameras. It is much bigger. It is 8mm in diameter -5/16? roughly

measured.

It is located at one end of the bottom plate on the camera (not centered in the

middle), but that?s not a problem.

At the other end is the wind/rewind knurled knob.

Any idea what can I use to mount this camera on an Arca-Swiss-type quick

release plate so I can use the camera on my ?ball-headed? tripod?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Konstantin, there are two standard tripod thread sizes, both in inches.

1/4" x 20 threads/inch and 3/8" x 16 TPI. If you visit www.berlebach.de and look around, you'll find a brass bushing threaded 3/8 x1 6 externally and 1/4 x 20 internally. I think this will do for you.

They offer two types, with and without a flange. I think you should get the one without flange.

Hi Dan,

And thank you for your super prompt response!

Could you please look at this bushing at Adorama here:

http://www.adorama.com/TPB.html

It says ?European Thread?, but it's still 1/4" to 3/8" conversion.

I looked around and this is the only bushing with this particular designation.

B&H doesn?t list any such details in their bushings? descriptions?

Is there an American versus European type screw thread?

The Balda Super Baldina is German, so do I have to get this particular ?European? type, or??

What do you think?

The camera is with a 50mm bellows lens but made out of metal (not magnesium alloy) so it?s pretty heavy.

Therefore, should I go for Brass only bushing or any ?white? metal will do?
