Can't use delete in D80 ... HELP

I was going through the menu in my camera...I don't know what I did. Now I

can not use the Delete function. It just says "This option is not available

with currant settings" I don't recall changing any setting. It is on

Automatic. There are no images on the SD card. I don't see anything in the

manual other than setting it on protection for one photo at a time.

Check your manual for a reset function, which will take all of the settings back to factory defaults.

I'm confused, how can you delete an image that is not there?

 

You should format your card in the camera every time you put it in, and generally avoid deleting images individually as this can sometimes cause problems.

Here's a possibility... If you accidentally pressed the LOCK button on a given image while looking at it you will not be able to delete it.

If there are no images on the card then the delete function would not be available (because there's nothing to delete).
