Selling School Photos

Recommended Posts

Hi - we're a small private school and we regularly take photos and post them to

the web. I'd like to use a service so parents could buy copies of the prints

(and we could make some money from it). The available sites seem to be focused

on pro photographers (like shutterfly pro, printroom, smugmug, etc.). Any

comments on which would be easiest to use/most economical?

Thanks.

add www.photoreflect.com to your options - no charge for the hosting; they take a 15% commission on online sales, plus a small transaction fee for the credit card. You can work with a labtricity lab, or do the prints/fulfillment yourself.

My vote is for smugmug. While you can do an awful lot of customization, the pro account without any modification is easy to use. The quality of their printer (EZPrints) and the exceptional level of customer service makes them a pleasure to deal with. With the pro account you can set your prices. Smugmug does take a percentage of the sale like the answer above. I've used them for three years now and have had one complaint. They reprinted and reshipped free of charge - the customer loved that, as did I.

Thanks ... Pat
