laura_gingerich
Hi, I'm new and I'm confused about color settings. Ok, I've got my Canon EOS 30d set on Parameter 2 and Abode RGB. In Photoshop CS2, under Color Settings, then Working Spaces, I have "RGB: sRGB IEC6a966-2.1" Is this correct? Thanks for the help. -L
buck_rogers1
Nope, you need to set sRGB on your camera, too. Otherwise, you're good.
ronald_moravec1
My needs may be differnt than you and I have a Nikon. That said, I use a low contrast mode on camera meant for further processing. One can push contrast up not down as well. I normally make a small compressed JPEG + raw. They have tha same lowish contrast. The JPEG is sRGB. CS2 is set t sRGB. I`m am loosing some gamut, but I dislike contrasty saturated amateur prints. Others like CS2 set to RGB to get as much as they can. But when you go to a printer is gets reduced there to JPEG so why bother?
laura_gingerich
Thanks for the answers. IF I want to keep my camera at Parameter 2 and Adobe RGB then I need to set CS2 at Abode RGB 1998, correct?
mark u
Correct. You may wish to read this and its sequels: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/color-management1.htm
colinsouthern
Or ... If you're going to post-process in CS2, why not shoot RAW and enjoy far greater control over the conversion of your images :) Cheers, Colin
laura_gingerich
I have "RAW" Phobia. Perhaps I should give it a go again.
phule
There's nothing to fear with RAW and everything to gain.
