michael_g.
Hi, does anybody know how to force Rebel XT to write in RAW format while shooting in the full auto mode? It automatically switches to JPG when going to the Full Auto mode - it is disappointing..... Thank you all in advance. Michael
leopoldstotch
You can't. Use program instead of auto, Its as simple as that.
ralph_jensen
What he said. The "P" mode is fully automatic but allows more options than "Full Auto" does - including the option of switching to RAW.

geoffs1
That one caught me by surprise, too. Occasionally I switch my 20D to the "green square" when I want the camera to try and do it's best with fill flash or something like that; my D70 keeps the file-format setting, but I got a big surprise when all my 20D saved were JPEGs... phyrpowr
Not to mention that when in "Green Square" & AF mode, the little &%#!? picks the wrong focus point every time
