sam_ellis
Jena and Regas,I don't know about you guys, but have you ever noticed the phalic nature of something going through the rings like that? I've found myself setting rings up like that and always either rearrange or delete them later. My wife actually pointed that out to me and now I notice it every time I set rings up for a shot. Just something to think about. Anyone else avoid that look or is it just me?
annealmasy
Sam... it's just you. ;) Get your mind out of the gutter. ;)

david_schilling___chicago_
Sam, Absolutely,....but why avoid it? I also noticed a Freudian connection between David W's image caption and the image above it...course my mind is frequently in the gutter :-) Josh,...you're welcome. sam_ellis
See Anne, it's not just me LOL! Thanks for backing me up David. I didn't notice the symbolism in David W's, but I see it now! This is such a happy and positive thread :)
regas chefas
I noticed it too....but I still like the shot. Here's another one (not phallic :)<div></div>
chetn
I use the ring closeups as backdrops to the actual action shots at the ceremony. Here is a montage page from her album.<div></div>
glenn_mabbutt
Joshua - nice pic - did you deliberately pick a passage where "transgressions...of the wicked" was clearly visible? :)
van_liles
I got this idea from I don't remember where, but I like it and am expanding on it. <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/125/345784511_25fcbedf52.jpg" width="332" height="500" alt="016" /></a>
van_liles
And here is a tabletop with rings, as well as the invitation as well as menus, etc. <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1228/552442565_7237aa735b.jpg" width="500" height="358" alt="Wedding Tabletop" /></a>
kiva
I find setting up in the ribbons of the bouquet to add to the "action" of the photograph.<div></div>
robbie_caswell
Van and Bob did my shot. This was an attempt at something different.<div></div>
colinsouthern
Just one more idea to add to the mix ... Photograph the ring(s) on the hands ... select the rings in PS - boost the saturation slightly - invert the selection, and desaturate the rest of the image. Cheers, Colin
joshranwest
glenn- thanks for the compliment. actually, nope, it wasnt intentional, but now that I look at it, its kinda funny. LOL. I opened the Bible right in the middle, and had at it.

ashley_f
When do you usually do your ring shots ? Do the bride/groom ever decline on handing over their rings for photos?
kiva
Ashley, I let them know during the initial interview that such shots as the ring shot are a great choice and ask them to have the rings ready along with the marriage license, the shoes, the dress, the bouquet and the partridge in the pear tree (Whatever they want photographed!). If you let them know ahead of time then you're prepared to photograph them and they are prepared with all the items so they don't have to send out the inevitable search party which slows you up. You don't have to worry about a "decline" if it's preplanned. If they opt to not do it for whatever reason then all is well ... it was their choice at that time. Planning with the couple for these shots takes mere minutes and saves everyone time chatting about it on the wedding day.
wedding-photography-denver
Nadine, fortunately I have only shot since the 90's and so did not know that position, though my subconscious may have dragged it out of who knows where, heh. I love to play with rings shot ideas...<div></div>
