ishik_tuna
Well i turned on the digilux2 yesterday, and the image was all fuzzy, colors were wacky, and it basically looks like the camera is on LSD. The camera has never been abused. Anyone had a similar problem with a digilux2? Frankly, this may make me get a Canon digital SLR now, i'm really cheesed off about this. My Leicaflex SL has worked flawlessly for 30+ years, and the Digilux2 hasn't even made it 5 years.
cdnguyen
If you go to Leica user forum you will read complaints about the digilux 2 sensor dying out. Leica NJ will replace the bad sensor for you.
gary_chao
I had two digilux 2 CCD's gone out on me. I've called NJ and they told me they will cover the replacement of the sensor. However, all parts are on back order. No ETA on the parts. Sounds like there will be a long long wait.
anthony_brookes5
A Digilux 2 with defective sensor sent to Solms or the UK or US agents is usually returned within six weeks. It is replaced free and the whole camera is checked over. The problem I understand was a batch of faulty sensors supplied to Leica. I had excellent contact with Leica when mine failed and they were very precise and helpful.

khi
ishik-I'm getting in on this a little late, but the sensor just went out two weeks ago on my D2. go here: http://www.leica-camera.us/service/service_and_repair/worldwide_network/us/photography/index.html I sent mine into Leica in NJ and got my repair authorization back that same week. It is a free repair and they quoted me 6-7 weeks.
sw12dz
"got my repair authorization back that same week. It is a free repair and they quoted me 6-7 weeks". Why does it take Leica so long to complete warranty repairs? When my Nikon D70 needed a new circuit board I went to the Nikon web site and downloaded the repair authorization form. Sent the camera in the same day and got it back ten days later. This was also a free repair. I'm seriously considering the purchase of an M8, but I am very concerned about Leica's "after the sale service".
anthony_brookes5
Stuart - Just look at the size of the two organisations. I think their service is excellent for quality. Yes it will take a little longer.
