sandysocks
The groomed ski slopes can look kind of obnoxious from Trillium. I think I would try to catch morning and evening at each Lake. Trillium is smaller and easily walked around, but the banks may seem more crowded. Morning may tend to be better at Trillium and evening at Lost, but you can never be sure what you will find. Clouds in the forecast, etc. Dawn and dusk can be surprising up that high, so don't sleep in.
eric_brody
Trillium Lake is a short drive off US 26, Lost Lake is quite a longer drive. Weather will play a role if you're just interested in the oft repeated reflection shots. Why don't you take a nice hike? Have fun. Eric
andrew robertson
There are great spots on the north side of 26 just before it divides into 35 (going east). One fun drive is to take 26 around the mountain, and then hook up with 35 and go around the other side of Hood. The 26 to 35 to 84 route will take you all the way around Mount Hood, but it is about a 6-8 hour trip if you stop frequently, screw around in Hood River, etc.
