vuk_vuksanovic
i've been messing around again with some long shutter speeds and deliberate camera shake (see links below for examples) and i'd like to incorporate some double exposures. first off, is it possible with an istDS2, second, how? i'd rather avoid photoshopping, which never looks right with this sort of stuff.

http://vukfoto.com/exhib/primaries

http://vukfoto.com/exhib/inka/01

so far, my friends seem to hate these. i am amused but realise a bit more experimentation is required.

mc2imaging
I like "solid favours"... Multi-exposure is possible on the K10D, I can't say for any other model...
ellis_vener_photography
"DSLR double exposure: is it possible in-camera?" Nikon has implemented an in camera multiple exposure feature since the D2X. Not in all cameras but certainly in the D30 0and D3 as well. Possibly the D200. randy_lewis1
Yes it can. In the Rec. mode menu, scroll down to Multi exposure. It will let you chose the number of exposures and if you want, it will adjust the exposures to compensate. Give it a try and post some images. I like your work so give it a try and lets see how it comes out. Have not tried it myself, but may get around to it someday
a few images
Also, the K10D allows this. Up to 9 exposures resulting in one image - with or without exposure compensation.
vuk_vuksanovic
thanks randy. that seems straightforward. the last time i had to deal with menus on the camera was to set it to work with fully manual lenses, which is all i use. re: 935915 adam, glad you like it. my fav is "the next mozart". mountainvisions
Ellis Venerphoto.net hero, Feb 13, 2008; 06:05 p.m. "DSLR double exposure: is it possible in-camera?" I might be wrong, but I'm fairly certain Pentax and not Nikon was the first to put in camera double exposure. The ist D was I believe the first camera with double exposure. It was released in 2003. The D2X was not yet released. Actually the D1X was still in production.
andrewg_ny
I don't see that setting on *ist DS2, though it is on K10D (?) No need to switch systems though this may be the excuse you need to upgrade. :-)
mountainvisions
On the ist D (like everything else) it's actually an external button. It shares a home with the bracketing button. Simply press it and move the control wheels for choice of bracketing or double exposure.
