fp56gallery
I actually wanted to upgrade to PS CS 3 because of it`s better RAW developement capabilities compared with CS 2 when I realised that I needed PS 7 for an upgrade and only had the PS 6 version. So I wanted to save some money and downloaded Lightroom from the Adobe Website. I have to say that I only wanted it for RAW developement and maybe for some fast webgallery production and not for archiving the images as I want to stay with IMatch for that purpose, which does everything very well for what I need as a semiprofessional stock photographer. Now I find that the RAW developing is fine with Lightroom as I had expected. But when I want to delete folders I only used for the import to or export from Lightroom I`m realising big troubles. I can`t delete folders as I want, they show up again in IMatch when I think I had deleted them and so on. Lots of troubles. Furthermore I realise when I use Photomatix with images developed in Lightroom, that Photomatix is not able to read EXIF-data and doesn't work properly. Is there anything wrong with my workflow or my LR settings? Is there a way to use LR for professional way of archiving like in IMatch? Should I return Lightroom and choose another RAW conversion software? Thank you for your thoughts in advance. Franz
glenbarrington
I have been able to successfully delete folders from Lightroom and they disappear completely from ACDSee Pro. Not sure what you are doing wrong there. I have no experience with your other software products aside from an Imatch trial a couple of years ago. I think you would get better answers from the Adobe User to User forums, a lot of really smart people hang out there. http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/index.html
jephotog
I have not deleted folders, or if I have I have not done it often enough to remember the details of it. But when I go through a folder of imported images i choose, CTRL(down arrow) to set the images for deleting. Then I choose the filter for deleted images and browse those just to make sure something of value did not make its way in. Then I choose CTRL backspace. I get the message "are you sure you want to delete the # of images. You can then choose, cancel, delete, or remove. Remove takes them out of LR's database but leaves the images. Delete actually deletes the files. Make sure you are actually deleting and not removing the files. As far as EXIF info with other programs, I can't help you there. Go talk to the people at the Adobe forum.
