john_newell2
I am having some trouble getting what I think is a satisfactorily secure attachment of an MB-D100 grip/battery adapter onto a D100. The MB-D100 doesn't seem to seat fully against the bottom of the camera. I have googled this and gather that this is a known issue, but the only solutions I've found are (1) sand it down (!!!) or (2) send it to Nikon with the camera. I'm wondering if there are any other solutions or workarounds for this issue?
Ed_Ingold
This is a perennial problem with add-on grips of every model. Besides being annoying, the looseness prevents effective use of a tripod. After handling the D100 and F100 with grips, I have since avoided any temptation to add one to any camera. If you need a vertical grip, get a camera with a grip built-in. john_newell2
Thought I posted this earlier but it isn't here so ... what I found was that the D100 mounted securely with the center plate on the top of the MB-D100 removed. Apparently Nikon has redesigned the part, so I ordered a replacement from Nikon USA (approximately $9). I am expecting that will solve the problem.
