thomas_fiege
hi guys I'm looking into buying the Sigma 70-210 AF APO f2,8 used. I have read in a post that there are problems with the chip and some newer cameras. As I have a D80 I would like to here from some experience with the lense and the D80. Also I don't know what the price tag is for this lens used as it is not that often to find. I don't think that I have to worry about optical qualaty from what I have read in other post the lens has some good reputations. Ore am I wrong? thanks for some answers Thomas
bill_keane2
If you get one of relatively recent build, you shouldn't have an issue on the D80.
james_c._turner
I thought this was the older version? I don't think there are any "of relatively recent build"? None the less, one of my friends uses one on her D80 without problems.
elliot1
Buy from a dealer that accepts returns just in case.
test_nospam
I have this system and with the Sigma lens it will shoot for a couple of shots then the camera sends the lens past infinity and it stays there. The camera won't shoot and the lens cannot be focused. It is stuck at infinity and cannot be manually turned. The barrel moves but the indicator doesn't. This happened to me the very first time I used the lens so I took it back and the camera store got me a replacement lens. That did the same thing after about 10 shots. If I spin the barrel it will eventually unstick but there is no consistency to the number of times needed to spin the barrel.
