yang_yan
i chanced upon this lens labelled as zykor 500-800mm F8-12 zoom mirror lens, nikon mount at a antique cameras shop. i did some research and it was also known as starblitz in chinese websites only. there were no other references to this lens at all. does anyone else (received some help from michael here) have this lens or know anything about it ?? I am thinking of getting either this or the sigma 600mm F8 lens. Would appreciate help from the guys here. thanks
Jerry_
It is your money. Chances are, even with a concrete tripod, the results will less than with a Reflex-Nikkor lens (either the 500mm f8 or the 1000mm f11.) The (most likely) reason the Starblitz/Zykor line is no longer available new, it went bust.
douglas_greenberg
The Sigma 600mm. f8 is a pretty good mirror lens. The one I've owned for many years never was particularly sharp in its closeup "macro" range, but past about 20 feet it's quite good, considering its price. The Zykor-Starblitz is almost certainly going to have "optical compromises" and will likely prove disappointing.
