batteries for flash?

Hello - can someone let me know the best type of batteries to use w/ my 580ex

for flash? Thanks so much (oh and i use a 5d). meg ;)

I user the rechargeable ones in mine, and they work great. The ones I use, I got from Calumet, and they are 2500mA AA of their store brand. Then again, the brand hardly matters. I got a 12-pack for about $20, but it didn't come with a charger (which I already had from an earlier set I bought.)

I like the Energizer 2600mah. Available at Walmart.

Uh.. ok, that looks a little funny. They are AA batteries, that hold 2500mA (milliamps, which is a rating for the amount of current they can put out).

Agree with Mark - I have 32 of the Energizer 2600 mAh from, yes, Walmart (uuuugh). They work beautifully and last nearly alllll event for my twin 580ex's on 500-1,5000 shots. Use others in my 5D grip cartridge (saved my BUTT last Sunday), PocketWizards, and a bunch as spares.

Meg check out MAHA, I hammer them and the 2700's do the job. The chargers come with an adaptor for your car's lighter.

Take a look at the GE/Sanyo eneloop 200 mAH AA battery. Has very special characteristics. I am sure you would start using it from now on.

Two types of rechargables:

NiCd<br>

NiMH

You want the NiMH.

<p>

The batteries have a rating based on "current." It's the mAh. Don't go any lower than 2500 mAh.

I personally buy the Energizer NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) 2500 mAh. I get them at Target.

Another vote for the 2700mAh Powerex batteries with the Maha charger. Not only very long lasting batteries, but rechargeable so you can avoid sending piles of disposable AA batteries to the landfill.
