andy_coach
Hi, a friendly seller from the UK (a non-photo store) has this R5 kit for sale and we are trying to come up with a fair price for it. My only other pricing resource is ebay but am hoping to get some feedback here. I already asked the seller for the pics of the glass. The kit includes: 1 x Leica Elmarit-R 1:2.8/24
1 x Leica Elmarit-R 1:2.8/35
1 x Leica Vario-Elmar-R 1:4/35-70
1 x Leica Summicron-R 1:2/50
1 x Leica Elmarit-R 1:2.8/90
1 x Leica Elmar-R 1:4/180
1 x Extender-R 2x for Leica-R
1 x R5 body (silver)

Any and all advice would be much appreciated (price, questions to ask the seller, etc). Thanks!
wgpinc
I would guess ballpark $1700 to $2500. The R lenses haven't held their prices as well as the M System. You can always look at ebay for finished auctions, or KEH.com, or some of the advertisers in Shutterbug - Tamarkin, Drury etc. The R5 is a nice camera and all the lenses are good bread and butter lenses. Good luck!
kens
I'd lean towards $2,500 US assuming no problems. That's a gaggle of pretty solid lenses. The R5 is good, too.
robert meier
The prices for all of these have really taken a nosedive. Buying them as a group also lowers the price, over buying them individually. I wouldn't go over $1500, if I were you.
gaijin
I have a black chrome R5, which I love and believe the chrome R5 is somewhat less common than the black chrome R5. You are faced with an excellent selection of lenses and an excellent camera, assuming all in excellent condition (I have all of them today except the 35-70/f4, which I sold being not that great, although it is convenient) and I would tend to go with (a fair) price leaning towards the US$2200 to US$2500 range. The 35/2.8 and 90/2.8 are staggeringly sharp lenses, the 50/2 likewise. The 180/4 is an excellent lens but a bit slow in dim light, adequately sharp and very light weight for a 180 lens none the less. Don
robert meier
Don, I agree with you about the 35/2.8 and the 90/2.8 -- they are really, really good lenses. The 180/4, however, is not in that league. You have to get the 180/3.4 to get a 180 that is as sharp as the 35 and 90 Elmarits. Bob
anthony_brookes5
Converting 2:1 with the dollar /pound I would say around 1100 pounds to 1400 pounds depending on condition. This is a good outfit and the R5 an excellent camera - I use mine still even though I have an M6 and a Digilux

andy_coach
Thanks a bunch for everyone's replies, they are much appreciated. I am expecting the seller will send me pictures of the front/rear glass in a couple of days, and I will post them here. Btw, if I decide to pass on the kit, I will encourage the seller to post this gear here first. - Thanks again!
jerry_kirkwood
Everyone's been telling you what it's worth, but you asked what you should pay for it. Camera stores, or what's left of them, don't want to buy film gear for love or money. The guy's obviously not entrepreneurial or he'd know enough to separate them, and sell them on eBay. I say offer the guy 40% of what it's worth and let him haggle you up to 50%.
andy_coach
Jerry, I appreciate the advice. As much as I'd like to get more gear, I've decided I already have more than I have time to use, so will pass on this one. I received pics of the glass, all of the pictures of this kit that I have are here: http://tinyurl.com/yvtamv If you'd like to contact the seller, please let me know, I can give you their contact info. They are good people, I'd purchased several CV lenses (for a great price) from them about a year ago and all were in minty condition. From what I recall, these folks are in some kind of a book business, this is their father's gear. Thanks again so much for everyone's help.
