Any experience with Sigma 50-150 F2.8?

Hello there,

I read on here that lots of people use the Nikon 70(80)-200 F2.8 Lense for

weddings and events. After having seen and handled one myself recently I wonder

if there is an alternative because of its weight, and as such I would not be

able to shoot with another camera/lense while I carry it with me.

So I have been looking for a lighter (weight wise) lense. Has anyone been

shooting events and weddings with the Sigma 50-150 F2.8? Or have been thinking

along the similar lines and either proceed or rejected the idea? I would like

to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Felix

Felix I debated that lens but several postings regarding the poor build and optical quality kept me away from it.

I am happy with the 80-200 f2.8 which just arrived the other day from B&H for $799. A bit heavy I understand your problem I have to get a case to carry it on my waist when I'm switching between it and the 85mm.

I guess the key is being able to try a few copies and walk away with a good one.

How often do you guys find you are using the 200 end of the 70(80)-200 Nikons?

And do you think a soft photo at say the Sigma's 135-150mm range is a good thing or bad thing for weddings etc?

Jonathan, does that case holds both the body and the lense or just the lense?

thanks.
