jephotog
I went into my local Bestbuy the other day to check out monitors. I was there to check out the Samsung 226bw which I am considering buying but they never seem to have it in stock. While looking around I was blown away by the Gateway FPD2485W. While the extra real estate was appealing the brightness and sharpness of the monitor seemed to blow away all the others on the shelf. It also had an amazing viewable range. Scanning some of the other monitors I would notice the view (brightness mostly) would vary if I raised or lowered my head by a foot or so. As I looked down the row the Gateway even from an extreme angle would appear brighter than the monitor in front of me. I know that super bright or contrasty is not necessarily the best for color correction but I was impressed by the display nonetheless. I have an eye-one calibrator I will use on whichever display I get. I would appreciate any feedback on this monitors suitability for photo work. alex_medeiros
I will probably get this monitor next as well. I have been working on Gateway's 21" widescreen for a little over a year and it has been very good. I also have the eye-one calibration system and it works well. My opinion is that it's quality is great for it's price range. I don't know how it would compare against the much much more expensive Eizo. The gateways have received good reviews.
