67 battery issue

Hi, my 67 froze up and I can't get it back.

 

The mirror locked up and hasn't come back down. I assumed I just had a dead battery so I purchased a

new one. I installed the new battery but nothing changed. The mirror is still locked up, and the red battery

light won't illuminate. I've tried removing the meter, and then the lens, but nothing will release the mirror

or illuminate the battery light.

 

Can anyone offer any insight?

Make sure you've checked and cleaned the battery contacts. I use the head of a pencil eraser, or for more drastic cleaning, some fine sandpaper. It is surprising how often contacts can look clean and yet the power is not getting through.

You have to reset the camera when this condition occurs. There is a small black button on the front of the camera underneath the 6x7 or 67 label. Push it in with a pencil point or something similar and the mirror will reset.
