soeren_engelbrecht1
Dear All, I took the following two pictures about five seconds apart in a street in Amsterdam. The first picture was a candid one, after which the "sitter" became aware of my presence. I really am not certain myself, which picture of the two that I prefer. Just out of curiosity: What are your personal views ?? Cheers, Soeren P.S.: I'd better mention the gear, since this is the Leica Forum :-) Minolta CLE, Summicron 40/2, Kodak T400CN<div></div>

olliesteiner
#1 for sure, though I like them both. #1 seems to convey more of his personality, looks more like a spontaneous moment captured, and draws the viewer's eye from left to right, to look in the direction that the subject is looking. ellis_vener_photography
The cute tyke looks like he was put there for the purpose of having his photo taken, but is looking away (towards Mom?) in #1. Therefore I picked #2 as it just seems more honest as a portrait as neither seem to be really candid snaps. Also with his eyes engaging the viewer's gaze there is more emotional resonance. stuart_richardson
No 1, but you might considering dodging his face a bit in No. 2. The way that he has turned, he no longer has the light directly on his face and so it makes it a bit dark...
jacob_brown
If you have to choose, then the first, but I am unenamored of them both.

Tony Rowlett
I like #1 by a small margin because I find the boy's facial expression more interesting. Both are nice, though. Backups? We don’t need no stinking ba #.’ _ , J
