Best midrange flash for 20D?

I'm ready to buy my first proper flash unit for my 20D, any suggestions as to a good mid-priced model? I

have about $200 to spend. I don't mind a used unit from e-bay! Thanks for your help.

Don't compromise for something less than the Canon 430EX.

Use a Metz 54-MZ3. It has the "A" mode and also supports E-TTL.

The 430EX will be the best mid-range flash for a 20D, the next step up obviously is the 580EX. Don't settle for anything old now like a 550 or 420 unless money is extremely scarce.

I have both 430EX and 580EX. If you will not be using two flashes at once, go with the 430EX as the 580EX is probably overkill, overweight, and over expensive for what you probably need. I use the 430EX if possible, save the 580EX generally for two flash small studio work.
