brian_ellis19
I'm trying to install a newly purchased Epson 3800 printer. After installing the ink cartridges (at which point the ink is supposed to charge) the red ink light comes on and I get a message in the LCD screen that says "No Maintenance Cartridge - Install the Maintenance Cartridge." There's no mention of any maintenance cartridge in the set-up instructions and nothing like that is shown on the list of items included with the printer. In the operating manual I see a replacement maintenance cartridge listed as an optional accessory but that's the only reference to it that I see anywhere. Could anyone here who has successfully installed the 3800 printer let me know whether they had to install this thing before they could use their printer and if not how they got past the message in the LCD? Or is there perhaps a problem with my printer? Thanks.
steven_clark
My guess is that it's been dislodged somehow. Open the hatch, pull it out, and put it back in. If you don't have one installed something may be wrong here. At least that's what I'm guissing just wandering through Epson's website. rnt
Hmmm... I'm trying to remember whether my 3800 came with the maint. cartridge installed or separately packaged. I think it may have been in a separate package. Look behind the little hatch on the lower right front corner of the printer. Is there a gray something filling the slot? If not, look in your packing material and find a gray boxy tray and install it. It should have come with the printer.
greg lockrey
I'd go with Steven's suggestion. It just may have dislodged. The maintenance tank has to be installed. I didn't have your problem when In got mine just had to install the inks and away it went.
john_brewton
Open the maintenance cartridge door and see if it is installed correctly. It's on the lower right and has a little tab to open it with. Perhaps one didn't ship with your unit?
