dex_rodriguez
i would go with 6x zoom, i could do more stuff with a 6x zoom than with face detection...but that just me.
alan_olander1664878205
Face detection, another marketing strategy.
savas_kyprianides
Face detection is a crutch for new photographers. I would not base a purchase on that recent development.
mars c
The Face detection is very effective and works better than I expected, It would track the face, if the face or the camera is moving. I mostly turn it off, I prefer to focus and recompose, But for my wife , who just wanna shoot for fun, It is a valuable feature. OTOH , The 6x zoom is also an important feature. More imporant than the face detection, IMO, Provided of coarse the image quality of both camera are on par with each other. I'd choose the 6x zoom. Wait for reviews of the 570IS , If it turns out to have better image quality, thats the time to wiegh your decision, if you can wait.
Ed_Ingold
The ultimate problem with automated features is how to defeat them. Shop for the basics - image quality, battery life and low lag time. If you shop for "features", you might as well read "Consumer Reports" and follow their picks.
tom_jenner1
Great for snap shooters. Laziness for photographers.
pico
You need face detection if you cannot answer this question without looking: What is your gender?
savas_kyprianides
What if you moon the camera - will it detect it as a face?
phule
It is a feature that many can benefit greatly from. It's value to you can only be determined over time. It can also be very useful when coupled with in-camera red-eye reduction processing.
