peter_cofran
as long as it meets nikon standards why would you care where it is made. did you ever think to ask the same question about your car or the clothes you wear? my older brother has the same preoccupation. just think its rather silly. bsd230
Very unlikely I would think to find one made in Japan. I think they are all made in Thailand but I'm not for sure. The lenses I think are still made in Japan. I wouldn't worry about it, most electronics are built all over the Asian region. It would still have to meet Nikon's quality standards regardless of where it's built. Mine seems very well made.
conrad_hoffman
The Nikon factory for the D200 is in Thailand, so that's where they come from. I think I heard some early pre-release units came from Japan, but the only possible reason to want one of those would be to sell it at a very high price to someone hung up on the place of manufacture. For actual picture taking, you want a properly debugged production unit from Thailand.
erik_loza
A fine camera. Made in Thailand is not an issue.
ShunCheung
The D40, D40x, D50, D70, D70s, D80 and D200 are all made in Thailand exclusively. It really shouldn't be an issue. (Potentially you could come across some prototype units that are made in Japan, but usually those are not for sale.)

bsd230
I checked and all my lenses are made there too.
frank_skomial
"may get original made in Japan camera Nikon D200" - some vendor offered me a D70 made in Japan for extra cost, but when the camera arrived, it was made in Thailand. You must be trying to be a victim of the same fraud.
amarkin
Some Nikkor lenses, however, are made in China. As someone suggested above, the accessories from which the camera bodies are assembled could be manufactured in various countries throught the region. PS: I am not sure what are the international laws or the laws in Thailand with labeling the products. Here, in Australia, something is made in Australia does not mean all the components used in manufacturing the product have been also manufactured in Australia. If there's a label, Product of Australia, then the product and all the components used were produced in Australia.
shizenda
Yes, I actually bought my D200 in Japan, and it has a little "Made in Thailand" sticker on it. So don't stress about it. Its a fine unit. Scott
