gerfoy3
Hi, I friend of my was taking shots last night of some awards cermony and came to me for some advice this morning. I was unable to help him so I turn here. He was shooting in a poorly lit room with Red, Yellow and Green disco lights. The technical kit info was as follows:Canon 400DCanon 24 - 105mm lensCanon 580 flash with a Quantum powerpack The camera was on P.The flash was on ETTL. Light levels were low but the lens was able to auto focus so I'm guessing the light was not too bad. The issue he faced was as follows:The majority of the images had several grey and sometimes black lines running across the image.I have never encountered anything like this before and have no idea what it could be. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Ger..
denisbergeron
Posting a sample will help.Maybe speed over flash sync?
gerfoy3
Yea I asked for a sample, he was so upset about it that he didn't even download to the PC.I was thinking sync speed but that would just be one solid line at an extremity of the image wouldn't it? Former P.N Member
<i>"Maybe speed over flash sync?"</i><p>If he was shooting in "P" mode that would not be the case.
mark soares
I have seen this before - if you are refering to multiple clack, 1 px thickness lines in every other pixel running horizantally across the frame then i have seen this problem and it is caused by either a bad ccd or bad mainboard - the darnest thing is that at times it will simply go away and work fine. buck_rogers1
If he didn't download the files, is he certain that the LCD isn't faulty?
shadowcatcher
I had this problem, duff CF card I thought and it did go away on reformatting it (in my computer not the camera)? KM
gerfoy3
Thanks to everyone, I asked him to mail me an image but he never did. I'll give him all the responses. Ger..
gerfoy3
For anyone interested, I had a look at one of the images and it was underexposure on black (dark background) that was causing the lines.. And to my eye they were not as obvious as he was making out. Ger..
