Black lines going across the image

Hi,

I friend of my was taking shots last night of some awards cermony and came to

me for some advice this morning. I was unable to help him so I turn here.

He was shooting in a poorly lit room with Red, Yellow and Green disco lights.

The technical kit info was as follows:

Canon 400D

Canon 24 - 105mm lens

Canon 580 flash with a Quantum powerpack

The camera was on P.

The flash was on ETTL.

Light levels were low but the lens was able to auto focus so I'm guessing the

light was not too bad.

The issue he faced was as follows:

The majority of the images had several grey and sometimes black lines running

across the image.

I have never encountered anything like this before and have no idea what it

could be.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Ger..

I have seen this before - if you are refering to multiple clack, 1 px thickness lines in every other pixel running horizantally across the frame then i have seen this problem and it is caused by either a bad ccd or bad mainboard - the darnest thing is that at times it will simply go away and work fine.
