What does the Noctilux really offer in terms of speed

For me and a lot of users I know it isn't so much about the speed that makes the Noctilux or the 35mm Nokton so appealing but rather the look of these lenses at max aperture. You simply cannot get the look of an f/1 shot with a Summilux. Regarding the Nokton while f/1.2 may not seem that much faster than say a f/1.4 Summilux ASPH the pictures shot at f/1.2 vs at f/1.4 tell a different story. When I shoot a subject at f/1.2 from say 10 feet away the surround areas kind of melt away.
