Help with my speedlite 430ex

I'm not sure if my flash is broken or I pressed something on my 430ex to act

this way....

 

When the flash is setup on the camera, ETTL mode. I cant adjust my shutter speed

over 1/200 on canon XTI "M" mode. On the LCD screen it shows up to 1/500, 1/1000

and etc, but when I press the shutter halfway to focus on an object, my shutter

speed automatically drops back down to 1/200.

 

My shutter speed goes back to normal only if I turn my flash off or I set it to

High-Speed Sync mode on my 430ex.

 

Did I accidentally pressed something on 430ex or i need to get my flash to see a

doctor?

Your cameras flash sync speed is 1/200th , and you can not go higher than this without setting the flash to High speed sync mode.
