fred aspen
The leatherette on both of my OM1s is starting to lift slightly at the edges. Does anyone know the proper type of cement to put the edges back down and not conflict with the original cement? Thanks!
SCL
Lots of people use Pliobond...it smells pretty bad for a couple of days then dissipates.
john_hermanson2
Problem is caused by expanding old adhesive layer. One thing you can do is peel up about 1/2" of leatherette, reverse-curl the edges to take the memory out of them. Then lightly run a fresh single edge razor blade across the old adhesive layer. Rub your finger over the layer and roll the adhesive up, separating it from the leatherette. Clean body surface and leatherette with (something like) denatured alcohol. Apply some brown rubber cement (Pliobond or Hobsco's "Goo") to both surfaces, allow to dry for a few minutes. Press together. About half of the OM-1 and OM-2 I service now have this condition. fred aspen
Thanks, all, for the responses. I will check at HD or Lowe's for the cement and rectify the problem. John, I sent you a PM about a dress ring for an Olympus normal that I need. Anything on hand? Thanks!
pje
Why not re-skin it? Check out www.cameraleather.com I re-skinned my Olympus 35RC with cobalt blue goat skin. Looks killer.
