manishraichur
Hi all What is the technique used to take this kind of picture? http://www.photo.net/bboard/nw-fetch-msg?msg_id=00KRDj&unified_p=1 Thanks
pico
Slow shutter speed. I'd guess 1/15th of a second for this one. Add camera shake and tilt.
obelix
I'm not a pro, but I'd guess on a tripod, and zooming out while taking the photo
manishraichur
The subject is very sharp, but the background gives the effect of motion. If i use slow shutter speed won't the subject also be blurred? I have heard of 'panning' ,but i don't think it is being used here
ellis_vener_photography
they (person in photo and photographer) both appear to be on an escalator. and a longish shutter speed was used.
milton arrow
It looks like a moving walkway, like you see in airports, both the subject and the photographer are on the moving walkway and you use a slightly longer than normal shutter speed to blur the background while keeping your subject in focus. phyrpowr
I checked his folio, and he says "moving along with subject, Nikon FM3A, approx one second exposure" so he would have been on the moving walkway with her
willhl
A monopod might help to, given it is an escalator you probably wouldn't want to set up a tripod however it could be hand held. Given the speed they move ~1s looks about right.
