wickedmartini
I'm heading down to Key West next week and wondered if anybody had some suggestions for good photo spots. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you! Mike
eye-of-searle
Pretty much anywhere around downtown. Start at Duval St. and venture out from there. I tag along with my wife every couple of years when she goes for business. I usually rent a scooter (highly recommended and cheap) and just rome around. There are tons of photo opps. Bars, shops, boats, docks, marinas, churches, lighthouses, museums, water, beach, sunsets, street performers, and just weird funky people in general, and Hemingway's house. You can also take a day excursion out to Tortuga Island for some great photos and snorkeling. Definitely without a doubt, make your way down to Mallory Square about an 1/2 to 1 hr before sunset. Street performers everywhere and one spectacular sunset.
fourfa
second half of this gallery, from just a few weeks ago.
I was pretty stoked to find these palm trees, made for a nice sunrise, especially with the mixed incandescent/ambient:

I can dig up the name of the beach from my map if you like. fourfa
also, there are plenty of useful posts in the archives. After reading ten or so they all start to say the same things. It's a pretty small town really
nolefan32
Andy's right, Key West is really a tiny little island. Probably why the #1 passtime is bar-hopping down Duvall Street. As for highlights, I really liked Duvall Street, thought it was attactive and colorful, and also the harbor where all the sightseeing boat tours dock has got good flavor. And you can get on one of those sunset beer cruises, those make for nice photo ops as well.
wickedmartini
Beautiful shot Andy! Thanks for the tips everybody. I hope to find time to have a few cocktails in-between shutter clicks...
