kfoster70
Saying a lens is digital can mean lots of things. If it is a DX lens (nikons designation) then it produces a smaller image circle then a non-DX lens. If you use a DX lens on a film camera it will not completely fill the frame of the film resulting in lots of vignetting. Sigma and Tamron also make DX type lenses. Simga calls theirs DC lenses and Tamron calls thiers Di II. Both companies also make digital optimized lenses that can be used on digital and film cameras. Sigma calls these DG lenses and Tamron calls them Di. What lens is such a great deal?
michael_hall6
IF by some amazing chance I get a super deal on a used lens but it states that it is a Digital lens, what will be the problems inherent with putting the digital lens on my N80 film camera? hans_janssen
A Nikon D lens isn't a lens for digital camera. That only means that the lens sens "D"istanceinfo to the camera. So a D lens you can use on a filmbody a DX lens, for a small sensor will probably give problems in the corners, they are getting dark.
