Mt. Rainier NP Update

Folks, if you plan a trip to Mt. Rainier National Park this spring or summer, there are a number of

changes from the winter storm damage which is currently under construction or planned for later this

spring or summer. I have an on-line News Web

page, with links to additional sources and information, some summarized from the NPS Web page.

The key are the roads at and through the National Park, several of which won't be repaired until later

this summer, specifically Stevens Canyon Road and Highway 123, after the snow melts and assessments

can be done. The Carbon River Entrance is closed semi-permanently at the boundary, as the NPS

reassesses the cost of the repair versus the frequent winter season damage.

I hope this helps and you can ask question on the Yahoo group or other resources on the Web page.

Thanks for the link, I tried to find it before. I noticed their link to the Mt. Rainier

Webcam in the article (sidebar box) is the image from the NPS Webcam

which has additional information, and linked on the bottom of the image.

For those who want to know, the view is from building northwest of the Jackson Visitors

Center looking southwest down the Paradise River Valley and the road up the hill (in the right

side of the photo). It's really cool anytime, even at night sometimes when you can see the

stars/planets.
