edsel_adams
I found an unshot roll of Panatomic-X. It is out the box, and has been at room temps since whenever it was made. I'm not even sure when Pan-X production stopped? But this roll has to be at least that old(duhhhh). If I shoot it, which I plan on doing. What consideration should be made in regards to speed and development changes, to compensate for it's age? I used to buy this stuff by the 20 roll brick. Thanks in advance of any advice.<div></div>
gene_e._mccluney
Panatomic-X, being a slow speed film, has a greater chance of being good past expiration date than a faster film does. I would process it in a very clean working developer such as HC-110, as this is a developer known for its low fog production, and full emulsion speed. I am currently using a 50 sheet box of Plus-X 8x10 that expired in 1981. It was sealed until I opened it last week. The results are just fine, developing in HC-110 Dil. B. 25asa
You could rate it at 25ISO to e safe, but its probably fine. Ive shot rolls from the 70s which turned out ok. Pan X keeps quite well.
edsel_adams
Thanks much for the info. It will be like the 70's again shooting this! This was a great film.
willscarlett
I also recently got my hands on two 20 exposure rolls of Pan-X that expired in 1984. Would HC-110 Dilution B also be suitable for this? If so, what developing time, temperature agitation, etc? Would it be possible to do these rolls in Rodinal or D-76?
