andy_coach
Hello, I just upraded to K10D and cannot make the Mecablitz 44 AF-3P flash behave likeit did with my Pentax DS (perfect exposures in full auto and in TTL mode). I canget the correct exposure in P abd Av with some tweaking but not in auto. Theflash corretly reads the lens/distance settings but if I leave it in auto/TTL,the images come out severly overexposed. I am wondering if anyone has tried this particular model with the K10D with goodresults. Are there any special settings that I should be trying? At this point Iam still poking around but not much hope. Thanks!
jportnoy
You need the new AF-360 FGZ. The K10D,K110D and K100D are not compatible with TTL. They need the new P-TTL. Your other option is to use the flash in manual mode.
elnoralouisa
Or the 540. I found this out the hard way too. Bought a non-Pentax flash that was supposed to be for Pentax, and was getting weird results. Got the 540 the other day, and it's fine.
andy_coach
Joseph, Debbie - thanks a lot for the quick feedback. Looks like it's time to give myself a break and retire the old Mecablitz :) Thanks again.
jportnoy
don'n know if the 540 is worth the extra $
elnoralouisa
The only thing major about the 540 is that the head turns side to side, and not just up and down. I wanted that, so....yeah, paid for it....oh well.........
renatoa
A recently - last week - finding, is Soligor, it manufactures a P-TTL GN 42 meters at ISO 100, i.e. more powerfull than 360FGZ, with turning head and a bit cheaper (for Europeans) than 360FGZ. You can see it's specs and get it here: https://secure.soligor.com/index.php?id=5&backPID=75&L=1&tt_products=6704&L=
andy_coach
This looks like a good option. But I am hearing it does not do high-speed synch(?). There is more info and some discussion about the Soligor flash here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=21941453
