Hi

 

Can anyone tell me how long it took for Leica to make their a la carte body?

Also, was full payment made up front or was it a deposit and then balance on

delivery?

Hi Seb, I ordered mine through Tony Rose at Popflash Photo. Payment was full upfront (I think

this will be the case regardless of the dealer). The camera was ready in about 5-6 weeks. I

am located in the US. I believe you can arrange to pick up the camera at the factory as well if

you like. They will give you a tour and let you watch the final assembly of the camera. I really

wanted to do this as I was planning on being in Europe around the time the camera was

finished, but unfortunately the factory messed up and mailed the camera to the US before I

arrived in Europe. But anyway, you can probably do that with some planning.

It depends on the relationship with your dealer. I did not pay a deposit. I paid one week after I've got the camera, when I was satisfied with it.

 

It took about 6 weeks, if my memory serves right. No invitation to the factory, though.
